Jim Brovelli
Jim is a licensed architect and a licensed, fully insured, general contractor. After graduating from UC Berkeley with a degree in Environmental Design (1982), he practiced architecture with Sandy & Babcock Architects and Neville Price Real Estate Developers. But what he really loved was the art and process of seeing his designs become a reality. After purchasing and remodeling ‘fixer uppers’ in the Bay Areas for several years, he eventually began designing and constructing home remodels for others. Since 1990, when he turned exclusively to Bay Area remodeling, he has designed and/or built over 300 residential projects.
Some of his favorite projects involve making the most of an existing space without expansion. There is little that is more professionally satisfying than reconfiguring an existing space to “live larger”. He believes that good design begins with active listening. He designs to make homes more comfortable and functional, not to impose his design sense onto your home.
Jim lives in Orinda with his wife Carol of over 30 years. They raised their three kids in Orinda and now are enjoying downsized empty nest in Sleepy Hollow. When he’s not running Brovelli Architecture + Construction, he enjoys biking and hiking in the beautiful California hills. He is passionate about light weight backpacking and is eager to help anyone who wants to avoid blisters and hike more comfortably.
Jim has been the Scout Master of Boy Scout Troop 303 for over 3 years and is actively involved in his community, including being a vestry member of St. Stephen’s Church. He has received ‘volunteer of the month’ for his contributions to the local schools.
